  • Wimbledon

Here at Luponde we are huge sports fans and I in particular have a soft spot for tennis. I grew up with a Dad who loved playing and watching it and I spent many summers trying to improve my serve and took up tennis lessons. Unfortunately my tennis skills did not improve greatly so I have stuck with following it closely on the TV and the occasional hit on a court on a sunny day!

Throughout the year I follow all the Grand Slams and cheer on Andy Murray as he continues his quest for more Grand Slam titles but Wimbledon will always hold a very special place in my heart. Not only is it a British institution, with its traditions, heritage and great food and drink (Pimms and strawberries and cream anyone?) but it is also something that brings back great childhood memories. Being lucky enough to grow up not too far from SW19 it meant that as a family we would queue up after school for return tickets or ground pass entry and explore the grounds. Dad would pick us up form school and our little adventure would begin. We’d have picnic food for dinner, I’d carry tennis balls to be signed by any famous players I could spot and we’d all try to cram on one or two empty seats to watch late afternoon and evening play.

As an adult I have been lucky enough to go to Wimbledon a few times and each time I feel like a kid at Christmas and even the rotten British weather won’t dampen my spirits. It’s a fabulous event and one that I look forward to time and time again. Let’s hope that this year we will be celebrating an Andy Murray win. With Nadal out in the first round, it looks like we are in for an interesting tournament.

To celebrate Wimbledon and all things tennis this year, here at Luponde we have created a stunning window display with grass, tennis balls and racket and some beautiful teaware that will go fantastically with your afternoon tea in-front of the tennis. We have Sophie Allport fine bone china ‘Strawberries and Cream’ Mugs available in-store or the gorgeous pastel coloured ‘Belle’ Teacup and Saucers. Our Tea of the Month is our organic Green Tea and you can come and visit us in-store and try some daily. We will even give you a score update whilst you shop!

  • Father's Day Gift Ideas

    Father's Day at Luponde Tea

With Father’s day just around the corner I thought I would share with you some gift ideas we have.

Next week in-store we will have the Dunoon ‘My Garden’ range of teapots, tea-cups, breakfast cups, mugs and tea-for-ones. If your Dad is into gardening an item or two from this range will be the perfect gift for him. You could even select one of our organic teas to go with it and then he can enjoy them both in the garden this summer.

For something a little more unusual our popular moustache mugs and espresso cups are back! They would look fabulous on any desk or kitchen table, you just need to decide which moustache design your Dad would prefer!

Why not give him a tin of our organic tea bags as they are much more convenient if he is on the go all day or he can keep them at work ready for a mid-morning tea fix (probably with a biscuit or two!)

Our Tea of the Month for June is Green and you could win a tin for your Dad by emailing his details to or by popping them into our teapot in-store.

Whatever you decide to do to treat your Dad this Father’s Day, make sure you let him sit back and enjoy the day!
